Thulong Dawa

Dawa Thulong is interested in merging thangka and paubha styles in his work. He pays close attention to the compositions and colors in his work. He started painting thangka from the early age of twelve. After finishing his schooling in India, he came to Nepal and took up various pursuits. He specialized in making Tibetan style furniture for several years from 2000. From 2004-2009, he taught Tibetan and English in Dolpa while also practicing thangka painting there. His thangka practice took a new direction after his tutelage under prominent paubha painter Mukti Singh Thapa through the American Himalayan Project.
